I'm Emily Hatseras. I am currently a sophomore at Trine University studying Human Resource Management. I am on the women's tennis team. I am also historian chair of my sorority, Theta Phi Alpha. I am also apart of women in business club.

I have been involved in athletics my whole life and have a passion for sports. My goal career is to work in college athletics in compliance and coaching. However, I am also very open to working a traditional Human Resource job. I choose to study Human Resources because I believe I have strong problem-solving skills and have an ability to boost moral of those around me. I believe that these are key attributes to a Human Resource Professional.

As a student athlete at Trine University, I’ve been challenged to balance academics, athletics, being a member of a sorority, and other academic clubs. Having to do this I developed a strong work ethic and time management skills. I have three years of experience with operations by working for various summer camps, I have developed skills such as time management and conflict intervention that perfectly align with this role.

Through my experience of playing college tennis and being an active member and Historian Chair of Theta Phi Alpha, I have developed strong leadership skills and a strong sense of adaptability. Whether it be collaborating with my sorority sisters for a philanthropy event or competing on the court. I have worked greatly on my communication and leadership skills, which I believe are essential to a work environment. I have also faced much adversity playing on a college team and have learned a great deal of self-discipline and resilience. I believe that these skills will translate well into any role. As I am very committed and do not give up easily.

Job crafting assignment

This assignment was for my Organizational Behavior class. In this assignment I had to organize all the tasks of being a day camp counselor for a YMCA, which was my summer job. I also had to rank these tasks by how difficult they were and how much motivation one has when completing them. The audience of this piece of work would be anyone interested in this job or anyone needing to write a job description for a job similar to being a camp counselor. For my future profession in compliance or HR, completing this assignment will help me because I will most likely be writing job descriptions and will be analyzing tasks. I learned a lot about motivation in the workplace and how certain tasks and activities in the job description can cause an employee to gain or lose motivation. If I had to change one thing about this assignment, it would be to pick a job that is in more of a professional setting. However, during this time, I did not have that experience to write about.
